The company was paying the tax every martech founder eventually pays: their v1 dashboard had been built by a frontend-only freelancer in 2022 and now couldn't render a customer's keyword history without freezing the tab. Enterprise customers on six-figure contracts were threatening to churn. The company needed a rebuild that could track keyword rankings, backlinks, and competitor signals at 10x the data volume, ship interactive charts that stayed smooth with thousands of points, and still feel like the same product to existing users so retention didn't crater on launch day.
We rebuilt the dashboard in Next.js with server-side rendering so customers see meaningful content before the JavaScript bundle even loads. Ant Design gave us a production-grade chart and table library we didn't have to fight. MobX handles reactive state across the complex filter-and-compare flows without triggering cascade re-renders. The chart layer uses virtualized rendering — thousands of data points, smooth pan and zoom, no dropped frames. A background export engine generates PDF and CSV reports on demand, and a scheduler ships weekly digests to every customer's inbox.

Next.js SSR was non-negotiable — SEO professionals don't wait for dashboards to boot. MobX beat Redux and Zustand for this codebase because we needed fine-grained reactivity across 40+ filter combinations without writing action boilerplate for every one. Ant Design is unfashionable in 2026 but shipped the data-table density our customers needed without three weeks of custom work. All of it sits on Vercel with edge caching; static assets hit 95%+ cache-hit rate.
