Tech Stack.

The set of languages, frameworks, and tools used to build and run your product.

A tech stack is the combination of technologies your product is built on — the programming language, the frontend framework, the backend, the database, the hosting. People say 'stack' because these choices sit in layers, from the interface users see down to the servers it runs on.

The stack matters because it shapes how fast you can build, who you can hire, and how well the product scales. A modern, popular stack means a large talent pool and lots of proven tools; an obscure one can leave you stuck.

There's rarely one 'right' stack — the best choice depends on your product, your team, and your timeline. The wrong move is picking based on hype rather than fit, which is how startups end up rebuilding a year in.
